The purpose of this post is to share my, “Journey” with you. It is also to define who a friend is. If you could choose someone to be your favorite pal, what would he or she be like? Can people and animals be good friends?
Make your own friendship puzzle ! Here is a video that will show you how:
My best animal friend is my Siberian Husky named, Journey. You can read about him in my biography. Here is a list of things that make him an excellent pal:
He is always with me. Never will he abandon me.
We need each other and depend on each other. He makes me exercise and calms my anxieties.
Everyone needs someone who will listen to them and not try to fix their problems.
This friend is happy to be with me no matter what I am doing or where I am going. We go on long travels together.
Patience is his greatest virtue. He will sit for hours as I play music, and write.
Friends don’t complain when they are uncomfortable. They just endure. Journey takes lots of refreshing showers with a hose during the summer. He shakes off the cold water and goes on his way.
Journey needs to stretch every time he gets up. I do, too.
Bike rides and long hikes are our favorites.
Playing ball and doing stunts is fun, too.
I would like to introduce you to Journey. Here he is!
The easiest, fastest way to meet new people and make friends is to walk a dog. If you can’t have a pet, borrow your neighbors. People like to share. Dogs never get enough attention and some adoption centers will let you walk the animals they have rescued.
What are the qualities you look for in a friend? Do you have the same values? Friends don’t last long if they don’t treat each other with respect and kindness. Respect and kindness are values we are taught to show others. Here are other values:
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness faithfulness and self-control in your friend?
Here is a song that someone wrote to his best friend:
Lyrics to Home To You by John Michael Montgomery
I get up and battle the day. Things don’t always go my way. It might rain but that’s okay, I get to come home to you. Sometimes life may get me down. I get tired of getting kicked around. I feel lost in this maddening crowd, but, I get to come home to you. [Chorus] You are my best friend and you are where my heart is and I know at the days end, I get to come home to you. Hanging out in our old sweatshirts, you let me complain about a hard day’s work. I don’t know what I did to deserve, to get to come home to you. [chorus x2] Yes, I get to come home to you. Oh, I love coming home to you.
Spiritual Application:
My best friend is the Lord. He is my spiritual companion. Never does he leave me or abandon me. His Word uplifts me, teaches me and comforts me. The things I learn from Him, I can share with others. This is a verse about friendship from the Bible:
“No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:12-15
“Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.”
“Some friends play at friendship but a true friend sticks closer than one’s nearest kin.” The Message: True friends will be with you through life’s most soul-shaking changes.”
Boundaries Application:
Choose a different friend if someone cinstantly hurts you emotionally and physically. Let them go.
Expect your friend to treat you kindly and treat him or her the same way.
Respect yourself. Love yourself and you will be able to love others.
Cherish good friendships, Make time for them in your life.
